Historical Preservation Foundation Board member Steve McLean is past President and current Trustee of the local NSGW Excelsior Parlor 31 in Jackson, CA.
Currently Steve is a Grand Trustee for NSGW, Secretary of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Special Legislation Committee. Steve spearheaded a successful Resolution recognizing the NSGW presented and recognized on the Assembly Floor at the State Capitol. Steve annually visits numerous NSGW parlors statewide.
On behalf of the NSGW he performs special research projects at the Secretary of State’s Office, State Archives and organizes “meet & greets” with Legislators and staff at the State Capitol.
Steve is Chairman of the City of Jackson Planning Commission and Chairman of the City of Jackson Historic Pioneer Cemetery.
He’s a founding Committee member of Top Cop – A Non-Profit Organization raising money and support for wounded and disabled veterans and first responder’s donating over $160K since its beginning in 2012.
He enjoyed many years managing a family owned business est. 1956 in Central California. Attended Delta College and University of Hawaii.
Prior to retiring in 2013, Steve was appointed by the Administration to Deputy Director for Legislation for CAL FIRE. He lobbied and worked with numerous other State Departments including Cal/EPA, Trade and Commerce and State Food & Agriculture. Assisted business associations, Legislators, their staff and State departments at the Capitol to come together to work on successful legislation. Testified at Legislative Committee hearings.
