Joined the Native Sons of the Golden West in 2006. I have been the President of Napa Parlor #62 for three terms, 2008, 2016 and 2017. I served on the Elections Committee twice, in 2010 and 2015 and have served as Chairman of the California History Board since 2011. I was Grand Historian for the 2017-2018 term and have been a member of the Historical Preservation Foundation since 2018. I also served as a District Deputy Grand President from 2012 until 2018
I am a first generation Californian, Born in Oakland and raised in Vallejo. I graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Political Science and received a teaching credential in Social Sciences from the same institution. I have been employed by the Vallejo City Unified School District since 1988 and have done post-graduate work in History, Political Science and Educational Administration at UC Berkeley, Stanford, UC Davis, and St. Mary’s College in Moraga.
I have written curriculum for my District and have been writing a regular column for the Native Son on California History since 2012. I am also active in Scouting, written course outlines for the BSA on piloting and navigation and have received the Sea Scout area level leadership award in 2019.
